Veteran racer scores first career Granite State Pro Stock Series win

HUDSON, NH — Bobby Baillargeon was virtually untouchable as the veteran stock car racer led all 100 laps and claimed his first career Granite State Pro Stock Series win at Hudson Speedway in Hudson, NH in the Hudson Hugger 100.

The Kingston, NH driver drew the pole position in the top-eight redraw and set up his winning effort. Baillargeon was able to pull out to sizeable leads, but a late race restart on lap 94 put Granite State Pro Stock Series point leader Bobby Cabral to his outside.

NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Race Report

CANAAN, N.H. – Emily Packard of East Montpelier, Vt., finished second in the 50-lap NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Late Model feature at Canaan Fair Speedway in Canaan, N.H., on Saturday, August 25. It marked the best career Late Model finish for the 15-year-old rookie. Packard started the night with a win in her heat race, followed with a second-place finish in the semi-feature and the runner-up effort in the 50-lap main event on the .333-mile oval.

NEW ENGLAND MOTORSPORTS NORTH For August 24-26

A bleak weather forecast has forced Devil’s Bowl Speedway to postpone its NASCAR Whelen All-American Series stock car racing program for Friday, August 17. The event was to be presented by Green Mountain Water Environment Association and Sunoco Race Fuels, and included twin 20-lap features for the J&S Steel Late Model division, a 75-lap Enduro race, and regular races for the Bond Auto Parts Modified, Renegade, and Bomber divisions.

A long line of rain showers and thunderstorms – some severe – was forecasted to move into the West Haven, VT area during the afternoon of Friday, August 17. Track promoter Mike Bruno said that the safety of the fans and racers was his first priority.

Part-time NASCAR racer leads all 100 laps in first series start

EPPING, NH — NASCAR Nationwide Series part-time competitor Matt Frahm dominated the Granite State Pro Stock Series 100-lap race at Star Speedway in Epping, NH to score his first series win in his first series start.

The 22-year-old Frahm, of New Salem, NH, used his pole position start to lead 99 of the 100 laps at the track where he began his racing career eight years ago. Three restarts put challengers to the outside of Frahm, but the young racer was able to retain his lead and pick up the win.

Debra Neil knew something wasn’t right. Her customary parking spot at Cruise Night in Newport, N.H., was taken by a truck that she’d never seen before. It didn’t take her long, however, to figure out that it was the Demon of Sceamin’ himself, Steven Tyler.

Neil, a resident of Claremont, N.H., eventually parked her 1970 Chevy Camaro in its usual location, but not before getting the inside of the hood signed by the lead singer of Aerosmith.

“Hey, he was in my spot,” joked Neil, who was one of nearly 150 car owners that took part in Saturday’s 22nd annual Custom & Classic Car Show at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

EPPING, N.H. – Reid Lanpher of Manchester, Maine, picked up a pair of Top-5 finishes in Amsoil NELCAR Legends Tour competition at Star Speedway in Epping, N.H., on Saturday, August 18, and followed those up with his second career Top-10 finish in as many starts in a Super Late Model. Lanpher, 14, finished second in the first 25-lap NELCAR feature event, and then after winning his heat race finished fourth in the second 25-lap event after starting 20th in the 23-car field. In the Granite State Pro Stock Series 100, Lanpher’s No. 59 EJP/Mission Trailers Chevrolet finished eighth in his second career start in the division.

Star Speedway Race Preview

Reid Lanpher of Manchester, Maine, will have a busy night ahead of him at Star Speedway in Epping, N.H., on Saturday, August 18, with a pair of 25-lap Amsoil NELCAR Legends Tour feature races followed by a 100-lap Granite State Pro Stock Series event. The 14-year-old Lanpher will drive the No. 59 EJP/Mission Trailers Chevrolet in the third GSPSS event of the season, after finishing sixth last time out at Hudson Speedway for his best career series finish. Lanpher will also have double-duty on the NELCAR side of things, having already qualified for a feature event that was rained out on Aug. 4 in addition to a regularly scheduled event.
