Thunder RoadPhil Scott, Darrell Morin, Will Hennequin and Al Derrington Claim Wins

Barre, VT – Phil Scott made Kyle Pembroke pay for one mistake at the front of the field on lap 37 of the VP Racing Fuels Late Model 50 Thursday at Thunder Road and went on to his 2nd win of the season and the 29th of his career.

Scott shot between a backmarker in the low lane and Pembroke on the rim of turn two in a go-for-broke move for the last of six lead changes.

“I knew I had to take the opportunity, when I saw it,” Scott said.

During the first half of the event, Pembroke and pole sitter Joe Becker raced side by side for more than 20 laps with Scott and eventual runner-up Joey Laquerre in close pursuit.

PASS RacingNAPLES, ME (August 28) – As far as the weather goes, the 2013 season has not been kind to racers of the Pro All Stars Series (PASS). An unprecedented number of cancellations has made an already long season even longer for North America’s top short track racers and left fans clamoring for more events. This weekend, thanks to 2013’s unruly weather, PASS competitors from New Hampshire to Virginia will be making history. Saturday’s scheduled 400 laps of competition between PASS North’s Twin 150’s at White Mountain Motorsports Park and PASS South’s 100 lap make up event at South Boston Speedway will mark the most laps of PASS Super Late Model racing action ever held in a single day.

The historic day of racing will begin Saturday afternoon at New Hampshire’s White Mountain Motorsports Park with a truly unique day of competition. For the first time ever, PASS North Super Late Model competitors will compete in two points paying events in the same day. The first 150 lap race will be a continuation of an event that was cancelled due to rain on August 4 and will be lined up based on heat races held that day. Following the first 150 lapper, PASS North teams will reset and hold heat races on Saturday to determine the starting lineup for race two.

Stone put on a passing clinic in the two main events, driving from 12th and 13th starting positions in the respective feature races. The Middlebury, VT driver was unstoppable in the opening race, driving from the back to pass Dave Snow for the lead at lap 15 and then cruising to an easy victory. Kingston NH’s Bobby Baillargeon led all but lap 2 on his way to his second consecutive Hudson Hugger win. Hudson’s Derek Griffith and Baillargeon brought the 21 field car down to the green, and the pair raced wheel to wheel for the first few laps, swapping the lead back and forth, before Bobby was able to close the door for the top spot. Barry Gray, Jimmy Renfrew and Mike O’Sullivan rounded out the top five on the opening laps.

The first caution came out on the 21st circuit when Eric Sands spun in the fourth corner. Austin Brehio made slight contact, but went to the pits for repairs. It was three laps later when the second yellow flew when the points leader Jeremy Davis, Jake Vanada and Mike O’Sullivan got together in turn three.

The late, great Marc Jenot, longtime racer at the Legion Speedway who passed away over the winter, was memorialized on Sunday, August 25. It was also Mechanic’s Race night as part of their Sunday Twilight series.

The Sportsmen Modified feature was a wild affair with several lead changes over the 25 laps. Eventually, Allen Hammond (#77) made his way to the front and rolled on to the win. “Flyin’” Ryan Avery (#01) held off Gary Seimons (#51), earning them the second and third place trophies.

The #55 car of Derek O’Hearn cruised to the win in the Super Street feature. Doug McPhail (#6) had a tough race, but at the end stood in place to take the second-place trophy. James Fadden (#9) unfortunately failed the post-race tech inspection, which put the third-place hardware in the hands of Allen Hammond (#1). Hammond has been pulling double duty the last couple of weeks, having recently acquired a Super Street racer.
