WHAT KIND OF STATEMENT WAS THAT TODAY?  “We’ve had a lot of great races this year with the 2 car, but we just haven’t really went out and kind of dominated a race.  Talking to Jeremy Bullins and like, ‘Man, what do we need to get to that next level?  We’re right there.  We need to go out and just dominate a race,’ and that’s what today was for us with the Western Star/Alliance Parts Ford Mustang.  I’m really proud of my team and the effort that they gave today.  A great race car and to all of Team Penske, thank you.  Its so great to be racing back in front of fans again.  It feels like forever, so welcome back, guys.”

Coby Takes Control Late for White Mountain Showdown Win

Hill Earns First Career Late Model Victory

N. Woodstock, NH — Milford, CT’s Doug Coby began his drive for a seventh NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour championship in earnest by capturing the White Mountain Showdown 200 at North Woodstock, NH’s White Mountain Motorsports Park on Saturday, August 1. Coby dove underneath polesitter Jon McKennedy to get the lead on the 135th circuit and then held on through a late restart to pick up his 30th career NASCAR Modified victory and first as an owner-driver.

Coby took the green flag fifth on the 28-car starting grid and was content to maintain his position early as McKennedy and outside polesitter Chris Pasteryak duked it out at the front. McKennedy was able to keep the top spot through a trio of cautions for single-car spins spread over the first half of the race. When the field went back to full song on lap 94 following the third yellow, Coby ducked underneath Lisbon, CT’s Pasteryak for the second spot.

LOUDON, N.H. – All eyes will be on New Hampshire Motor Speedway this weekend when New England’s first major sporting event since the pandemic, the Foxwoods Resort Casino 301, goes green at “The Magic Mile.” If last season’s dramatic finish is any indication, fans are in for a wild summer showdown on Sunday.

Defending race winner Kevin Harvick started last year’s event mid-pack after a 14th place qualifying effort. Behind the wheel of his Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota, Denny Hamlin took the green flag in 23rd, but quickly raced his way into the top 10.

NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Returning to White Mountain on August 1

N. Woodstock, NH — The mountains of Northern New Hampshire will roar once again with the sounds of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour on Saturday, August 1. White Mountain Motorsports Park and NASCAR officials announced today that an agreement has been reached for NASCAR’s longest-running series to make a return visit to the quarter-mile bullring.

The White Mountain Showdown 200 will be the second trip of the summer to North Woodstock, NH for the Whelen Modified Tour. The announcement comes just four days after the series made its White Mountain debut with Holtsville, NY’s Justin Bonsignore holding off Matt Hirschman and Doug Coby for the win in a green-white-checkered “overtime” finish.

7-Eleven Night Cancelled Due to Tropical Storm Fay

N. Woodstock, NH — Tropical Storm Fay was declared the winner at N. Woodstock, NH’s White Mountain Motorsports Park on Saturday, July 11, as track officials announced the cancellation of 7-Eleven Fan Appreciation Night due to the impending rain. The next event will be the Mid-Season Championships on Saturday, July 18.

Anyone who already purchased the Northeast Sports Network pay-per-view broadcast of the event will receive a full refund. Officials are exploring the possibility of holding another Fan Appreciation Night later in the season. Additional schedule announcements will be forthcoming early next week.

Bonsignore Pounces Late for Whelen Modified Tour Independence Day Win

N. Woodstock, NH — Holtsville, NY’s Justin Bonsignore made it 2-for-2 on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour 2020 season by capturing the inaugural Independence Day 200 at N. Woodstock, NH’s White Mountain Motorsports Park on Saturday, July 4. Bonsignore made his move to get the lead from Northampton, PA’s “Big Money” Matt Hirschman on the 194th lap of the tour’s first visit to White Mountain before holding off Hirschman and six-time Whelen Modified Tour Champion Doug Coby on a green-white-checkered finish.

Prior to Bonsignore’s pass, Hirschman had lived up to his nickname, dominating the event from the pole. Coby had given Hirschman everything he could handle in the early stage of the event before Bonsignore got around him following a midrace caution triggered by Rob Summer’s ride into the turn-3 tire barrier. Following the fourth caution of the event on lap 137 for Walter Sutcliffe’s spin, Hirschman and Bonsignore drove away as the rest of the field duked it behind them.
