Return to Young Farms next stop for Rock Maple Racing
Vermont venue steps up to host Round 4

HAMPSTEAD, New Hampshire (Feb. 26, 2020) — That old saying about the need to make hay while the sun shines sure applies to more than just dairy farming. In winter, especially with northern New England’s ever-changing climate, you race snowmobiles when and where there’s snow.

With the loss of a points race earlier this season in central New York, officials at Rock Maple Racing (RMR) will now return to the beautiful Young Farms in West Glover, Vermont, to contest Round 4 on the six-race 2020 campaign on Saturday, Feb. 29.

Admission is $10 per day for adults, while children age 10 and under are admitted free. This weekend’s RMR Cross Country series event is presented by several fine local sponsors, including Northpoint Chrysler/Jeep/RAM, Vianor Tire & Auto Service, The Farmyard Store, Martha’s Diner, Desrochers Crane Service, Royer’s Mini Mart, Walt’s Sales & Service and The Parker Pie Company.

Leading the charge back into West Glover are Pro riders Heath Bell and Remington Lessard. Bell, of New Gloucester, Maine, has won the first three Pro Open finals contested thus far in 2020. Lessard, of Monmouth, has been on a tear in Pro Stock to claim wins in Sherman, Rangeley and in Round 3 two weeks ago at the Young Farms.

Riders to watch in the talent-filled Semi Pro division include Dylan Thompson, who pulled off
a clean sweep of the finals in Rangeley. Others looking to challenge him are Toby Caron, who won in his first start in this class, Travis Brisbin, Michael Savage and Derek Dawson.

Last time out at the Young Farm, Bell and Lessard split the Pro finals. Krysti Leach won the Women’s final and is expected to fare well again this time around. Leach and weekly rival Mandy Cole always have some great battles of their own no matter where the RMR teams compete.

Along with talent-filled and thrilling races in Pro and Semi Pro, the day at Young Farms will also include racing in the Junior, Sport and Trail classes. The Trail class is the perfect place for the rider who always wanted to see what Cross Country racing was all about and give it a try for themselves.

Local riders Carson Gray (Newport) and Justin Locke (Irasburg) won the Trail 600 and 800 classes two weeks ago, demonstrating their skills developed on the snowy trails and fields of Vermont’s famed Northeast Kingdom. The Green Mountain Boys will defend their home turf again on Saturday.
