GSPSS headed to Beech Ridge speedway for the first time

For the first time ever The Granite State Pro Stock Series heads for the famed Beech Ridge Speedway in Scarborough Maine. This will be the third appearance for the series in the state of Maine and the first since 2017 and everyone involved couldn’t be more excited.

Ray Christian III leads the series regulars into this event. The Uncasville CT driver has already scored two wins in 2020 and looks to extend his point lead over Angelo Belsito and Joey Polewarczyk. Christain III used a recent weekly race to gain some experience at a track where he has very little. Belsito sits second in points, having scored two wins of his own, having never seen the facility while Polewarczyk has many laps there in a late model.

Rookie of the year candidate Casey Call will be making the trip to Maine. Call has shown an ability to take care of his equipment and be running at the end of races in 2020. He has many laps at the track in a Legends car and looks to use his experience to his advantage. A broken part at Monadnock nearly ended his day but an impressive effort by his team got him on track and the NH teenager wound up with a solid finish.

Also entered are 2019 co-rookies of the year Bobby Pelland and Jake Matheson. Pelland has run a limited schedule in 2020 while Matheson has had a solid year with consistent finishes and fourth in the points headed to Beech Ridge.

Dave Darling has filed his entry to compete in the beech ridge 150. The many time Seekonk Speedway champion will be making his first start with the series in 2020. He too competed in a recent pro series event at the track as a tune up to refine the setup of his car. His good friend Derek Ramstrom has also filed an entry.

Beech Ridge is one of two tracks that the series visits with a weekly pro stock division. As a result a number of local competitors have entered and expect to do well against the series regulars.

Former Beech Ridge champion Dan McKeage will compete in his second GSPSS event of the season. The 2010 Pro Series champion ran the season opener at Claremont Motorsports Park and looks for better results at his home track.

Rusty Poland, Corey Bubar and Trevor Sandborn have all run well in the races held at the track this year. Bubar and Sanborn have both scored wins while Poland has finished in the runner up position in each of the last two events. All three will look to defend the honor of their home track.

Other drivers who have competed regularly at Beech Ridge in 2020 and have entered the Beech Ridge 150 are David Oliver, Gary Smith, Evan Beaulieu and Joey Pastore. All will be looking to use their experience at the speedway to take home their first series win.

A pair of drivers local to the speedway with experience on the series are 2019 Champion Joey Doiron and Ryan Green. The two good friends both used last weeks race as a test session in hopes of taking home the $3000 top prize. Both look forward to racing close to home.

This event will combine Thursday night race divisions with the Beech Ridge Saturday night divisions. Gates will open for GSPSS competitors at 9:00am with series practice going on track at about 11:30. Thursday night cars will race at 2:30 followed by The Crazy Horse Racing Fast Time Challenge for the pro stocks. GSPSS heat races and the 150 lap feature will follow mixed in with the tracks remaining Saturday night divisions.
