JAMES RIVER, NS (June 10, 2014) – For the second straight year the IWK 250 presented by Steve Lewis Auto Body has attracted a NASCAR national series champion. Defending NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NTS) champion Matt Crafton will be at Riverside International Speedway July 19 for Canada’s biggest short track stock car race.

“I can’t get enough short track racing,” said Crafton, driver of the ThorSport Racing No. 88 Menards Toyota Tundra. “Our series (NTS) races a bunch of big facilities but there is just something about a cozy little short track like Riverside on a Saturday night that brings back a lot of great memories of where we came from, and at the same time gives us a chance to see some of the kids that may make their name in our sport in the future.”

This Saturday, June 7, he will look to continue his run of three straight top fives as the tour heads to Riverside Speedway in Groveton, NH for the Central Asphalt Paving 150. He will have to fend off the likes of Jimmy Hebert, most recent ACT winner Ray Parent, and a host of others.

One year ago, Polewarczyk marched from his 12th place starting position to lead the final 39 laps of the ACT 150 at Riverside on his way to his second of three straight ACT wins. His three wins on the season helped him earn second in the 2013 final ACT standings. This season his hunger for a title is more apparent than ever. His intensity and focus guided him to second in the season opener at Lee, fourth at Thunder Road and third in the most recent ACT event at Airborne.

EAST MONTPELIER, Vt. – Emily Packard of East Montpelier, Vt., makes her Riverside Speedway debut in Groveton, N.H., with the $10,000-to-win Fall Brawl 200 on Saturday, October 19. Packard has never competed at the tight quarter-mile, but she did test at the track two years ago as she prepared to begin Late Model competition at Thunder Road International Speedbowl. The race is the final event of the year for the Emily Packard Motorsports No. 9x Northstar Fireworks/Berlin Optical Expressions Chevrolet.

image001Waterbury, VT – While Wayne Helliwell, Jr. and Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. decided the American Canadian Tour Championship a few weeks ago at Airborne Speedway in the Fall Foliage 200, but they have one more title to settle this weekend. The duo sit atop the Ford Blue Oval Cup Standings separated by just one point, Helliwell leads, heading into the final ACT-affiliated event at Riverside Speedway in Groveton, NH this weekend.

The Ford Blue Oval Cup Challenge is a season-long point system that awards competitors who use Ford’s S347JR engine in ACT series and approved affiliated track events. Competitors use their best 18 events in the Ford Blue Oval Standings. The 2013 championship team will receive $2,000 for their effort. Helliwell is a two-time Blue Oval Cup Champion and has been atop the standings for the majority of the 2013 season. Polewarczyk has earned the most wins for Ford this season with four, and his 5th place effort in the Milk Bowl at Thunder Road brought him within one point of the lead.

On Saturday night September 7th, the Granite State Pro Stock Series will invade the high banked ¼ mile of the Riverside Speedway in Groveton NH. This will mark the first visit to Riverside for the GSPSS. “We are looking forward to bringing Pro Stock/Super Late Model racing back to Riverside”, stated series president Mike Parks A limited number of teams have turned laps on the ¼ mile but all and all it will be a first for 90% of the teams. Current point leader Jeremy Davis hopes to turn his recent string of bad luck around, Davis holds a slim 7 point lead over defending Thompson Speedway champion Mike O’Sullivan. As with Davis, O’Sullivan has struggled over the last couple of events. Third place point man Matt Frahm has been on a roll over the last few events and has turned the most laps on the ¼ mile oval, Frahm is one of the favorites for the event. Rounding out the top 5 in the point standings is former Oxford 250 champion Larry Gelinas and longtime Pro Stock competitor Mike Parks. The GSPSS is coming off very successful events at Both Star Speedway where PASS invader DJ Shaw nailed down the win, and Hudson Speedway where Bobby Baillargeon took the win over 2012 Rookie of the year 15 year old Derek Griffith. There are three events left on the GSPSS schedule, after Riverside it’s off to the Cannan Fair Speedway on Sat September 14th for the last event ever to be hosted at the speedway. Than the GSPSS will crown the 2013 series champion at the Thompson Speedway during the annual World Series in October. SOUTH PARIS, Maine – After winning the Late Model championship at Riverside Speedway last season, Luke Shannon wanted more. The Groveton, N.H., driver spent the better part of this season getting a new car up to speed, and last weekend it paid off.

Twice.

Shannon led the final 16 laps of a make-up feature from the previous week, and then stormed from the rear of the field to win the regularly-scheduled 40-lap Late Model feature at Riverside on Saturday, August 10, to earn his first two victories of the season.

pro stock tour(Antigonish, NS, June 15, 2013) Donald Chisholm and John Flemming swapped the lead over a dozen times before Chisholm’s Keltic Ford Fusion took the lead for the final time on lap 148 to win for the fourth time at his home track at the Ron MacGillivray Chevrolet Buick GMC 150 at Riverside International Speedway on Saturday night. Flemming ended up settling for second place at the end of this edge of your seat thriller. Finishing out the podium and rounding out the top five were Charlottetown, PE’s Darren MacKinnon, Brudenell, PE’s Jonathan Hicken, and Brad Eddy of Lower Sackville, NS respectively.
