A Look Ahead to “Friday Night Lights” at Lee USA Speedway

LEE, NH – As the North East Street Stock Tour returns to Lee USA Speedway for “Friday Night Lights”, presented by the Gobbi Corporation, on July 31, two drivers look to the event from different ends of the spectrum.

Geoff Rollins is in mid-stride, after picking up the win in the Christmas in July event at Monadnock Speedway on July 11, and looks to continue his success at another of his home tracks, Lee USA Speedway. Rollins is currently second in points in the Late Model Sportsman at the track, and finished second in the exhibition event for the North East Street Stock Tour (NESST), back in May.

Rollins will be running his familiar orange #02 car in his return home, and is confident in the change, saying “We are piloting our own car that’s orange and has a 02, and anything orange goes faster. I have won a 50 lapper here with this car. We put this new car together in two weeks, but it doesn’t scare me at all.”

GROVETON, NH – Joe Arena held off a hard-charging Chris Douton to pick up the win in the North East Street Stock Tour’s second event in the championship series, the Caron Fabrication 51, presented by L & L Riverside Inn, at Speedway 51 (NH).

Steve Kenneway led the field to green at the newly renovated facility in northern New Hampshire, after earning a plus-2 from his qualifying heat. Kenneway led the first three laps, before Geoff Rollins and Jim Boyle made contact on the front stretch, resulting in Boyle slamming hard into the wall, and leaving both with heavy body damage. Both cars would return to the track, as Kenneway had a new dancing partner on the front row in the form of Arena. Arena took command on the restart, and cleared Kenneway on the back stretch. The Devoted Daredevil: Jim Boyle Makes Racing a Family Affair

NORTH STONINGTON, CT – Jim Boyle started his racing career a step behind most drivers. The East Windsor, CT resident climbed behind the wheel of a Super X car at New London-Waterford Speedbowl at age 43, with help of friends and family.

“I have always been a race fan, and now that my kids are older, and time is a little more available, it seemed like something my son, Jim Jr., and I could do together,” Boyle spoke. “We both love the sport, and he is my right-hand man, putting in the hours it takes to run competitively.”

Boyle’s wife of twenty years, Deanna, has been by his side with everything the risk-taker does; Jim loves to sky dive, scuba dive, and ride his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, as well; and his four children, and three grandchildren, are all devout race fans. The relationship between family and racing doesn’t end there.
